Internet Marketing SEO - What Is It Really?

When I first heard of internet marketing SEO, I was scared witless. “Here is another one of those wierd computer languages I need to steer clear of,” I thought. Then every time I would come across a SEO title I would avoid it like the plague. “Just too many things to do, and to many things to learn, to fool with that just yet,” was my opinion. So, I told myself that I would get to it later…but that later never seemed to appear and suddenly a year had gone by, and I still knew little if anything about internet marketing or SEO.

The truth is, I probably would have never gotten into internet marketing. SEO would have been lost on me, had I not been commisioned to write about it. When I was forced into learning about internet marketing and SEO, that is when I figured out that this stuff wasn’t so hard, or difficult, and that it wasn’t a language from another world, or a mathematical computer language that I would never be able to grasp. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it is just a combination of several activities that when done, help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and others find your site and list it in a way that readers can see you. Obviously you market products through internet marketing. SEO just helps people see whatever it is that you are marketing.

Does it require coding? No, actually that was my biggest fear. SEO is not really about coding but about ‘words’. It is using the right words that will get you seen on the search engines, and about giving out enough information that will bring people to your site, and make those people bring other people to your site, until your site gets lots of visitors.

There are basically three things you want to focus on to optimize your page and get a better ranking. You want to have relevant titles, which does not necessarily mean your business name, but has more to do with the type of business or the category under which your business falls. The second thing you want to focus on is keyword analyzing. You want to search for words that a large amount of people are searching for that relate to your site, and which are not highly competed for. You can use sites like Google Adwords, and Word Trackere to do this. The third thing you want is to have relevant content on your site that uses those Keywords, and you want other sites that may have similar topics to link to your site. Once you have all of those elements in place you should get a better ranking for your site and more people should be able to find you. Now you should have a better understanding of what internet marketing and SEO really are, and you can see that it isn’t something that is out of this world.
